Merry Monday And Convention Swap

Hello All!
Well...what a whirlwind my life has turned into!  WOW!!!  I feel like the last six-9 months has just flown by.  So much has happened...I will just bore you with the coles notes of it!  I'm sure you aren't really that into all the deets!  ha ha ha...Anyways, the short and sweet - I went back to work, my youngest started walking, I went to Convention, my cousin got married, I got a "promotion" of sorts at my other job.  Cardiac Operating Room - I CAN'T WAIT!!  I am nervous as all heck, but I cannot wait.
Anyways, that is all.  A few weeks ago - I went to the 25th Anniversary Stampin' Up! Convention.  I know if you are familiar with Stampin' Up! you know that it is the most amazing company with some seriously awesome product lines...well it was such an inspiring amazing experience.  I have been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator for about a year and a half now, I would consider myself a business builder of sorts!  I would love to support others in what they love, but this is an experience that is just so amazing and it would turn any hobbyist into a business builder!  From the swaps, the classes, the friends, the hotel, the freebies it was just amazing.  And to get to tour the home office was soo cool!!  Anyways....what I really came here to post was one of my convention swaps!!  I made 24 of these beauties to trade with other demos.  I am also going to be submitting this in the Merry Monday anything goes Challenge, it is a month long - which is why I have been able to make the deadline ha ha ha...Anyways...This is a suspension card - yes I know, why would I do something that's seems so difficult for a swap...well it is not difficult at all!!!  If you would like some details on how to make a suspension card let me know I'll send you a little tutorial!!

Soft and Subtle Sympathy

Hello!!

Sooo...one of the most beautiful stamp sets in this catalogue is Pappillon Potpourri.  It wasn't the first stamp set I bought...sadly, I can't buy everything at once!!  ha ha ha...but i did finally get that and the matching punch (elegant butterfly).  wow!  that stamp set is soo beautiful, much more beautiful in real life, and the punch makes it soo nice to use! So...I was inspired by the colour combination over at Dynamic Duos today...phew you all know if you've been following that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Pool Party.  It is definitely my favorite colour.  The best thing about it is that it coordinates with soooo many of the other Stampin' Up Colours!  Anyways, the colour combo is Pool Party and Soft Suede.
I have played along a few times at this challenge blog, but this is definately one of the best colour combos!!  I also decided to play along with Stampin' Up! Only Challenges also.  This site is really good as not only does it have fun challenges, it is all Stampin' Up Product, so it's really good as a demo to get some inspiration from!!  To see all the different ideas and possibilities for all the stamp sets and products is really amazing!  SUO Challenges is a theme challenge this week, Animals!!  so throw in the little butterflies from Pappillon Potpourri and you've got the perfect mix!  Anyways, here is my card!

View from the top to show the double punching of the butterflies.

Triple Time Stamping

Hello all,

I am here today to show you a technique that has taken the stamping world my storm! Everywhere you look, there it is! And it is soo simple, it's crazy! It is such a beautiful technique it really is a WOW factor with little extra time, actually no extra time as it's all done at once!! This card is CASE'd by fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Dawn Olchefske. She did a fabulous video to go along with this card. Check it out!  She used such a beautiful stamp set and colour scheme that I couldn't help myself but to do the same thing....but....if you scroll down you will see one that I did myself.  It is such as easy technique, and looks beautiful.  I think that it works beautifully with many different stamp sets and colour schemes!!  This articular card is for a colleague who is leaving her current position and going to another hospital in the city.
Recipe:
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla.
Ink: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso.
Stamps: Petite Pairs, Creative Elements.
Tools: SNAIL, Sticky Strip, Stampin' Dimensionals.
Embellishments: Early Espresso Baker's Twine, Naturals Designer Buttons.

I used the small Designer Buttons, but if you look at all three of the buttons in the container, any of them would be a beautiful accent to the card!  Ther is a layer of stampin' dimensionals in between the second and third layer to give it an extra bit of pop also!  Now below is the card that I made using the same technique.  I wanted to show that this technique isn't only for stamp sets with frilly swirls and flourishes.  But it works for background stamps also!
Recipe:
Stamps: Day of Gratitude, En Francais.
Cardstock: Basic Black, Very Vanilla.
Ink: Sahara Sand, Basic Black, Real Red.
Tools: SNAIL, Sticky Strip, Stampin' Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Simply Scored.
Embelishments: 1/8" Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon, Neutrals buttons.

I just love this technique, it is such a stunning effect and so simple.  I can't go on and on about it enough!  ha ha ha...This card is for a girlfriend of mine who I met for luncha and she had the most adorable little outfit for Rylea with her!  I ran out of the other cards that I made in bulk right after Rylea was born.  I am also going to be submitting this card at Create with Connie and Mary - they have a colour challenge.  Basic Black, Sahara Sand, Real Red were the challenge colours.  I like the red in this card, it adds just that splash of colour and personality to this card!  The other Challenge that I am going to submit this to the SU Only Challenge Blog.  Although I haven't entered in this challenge before, I have been watching it and I really like it because the other entrants are so fabulous and it gives me a spot to get even more inspiration for classes and my own cards!  The SU Only Challenge this week is to use buttons or brads in your project.
Anyways, thanks for checking me out again!  Hope to see you come by and check me out again!!

Sending Many Thanks

I'm here again this time with a little 3x3 thank you card!  These are the little cards that my friends will find in their bags along with the goodies they decided to purchase!  I totally love them.  It goes along with the st. paddy's day theme of march and of course it also coordinates with the PPA Challenge 130: Lucky Limeade, Always Artichoke and another colour.  This was totally inspired by something I've seen online (I'm soo sorry I can't remember who did it!), using the iridescent ice embossing powder and embossing on a darker colour.  It looks fabulous.  I wish you could tell a bit better  how cool the iridescent ice powder looks, but a good picture was very difficult to acheive...Check it out for yourselves!

Recipe:
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Lucky Limeade, Always Artichoke, In colour DSP Patterns stack.
Stamp Sets: Petite Pairs, Mixed Bunch
Embellishments: Early Espresso 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Silver Brads.
Tools: Heat Tool, Iridescent Ice Embosssing Powder, Blossom Punch, SNAIL, Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, Simply Scored.

Anyways, thanks again for checking me out today!  Hope you all like my card!!  Leave me some love if you're checking me out so that I can come by and check your blogs out too!!!

The Kids are Alright

Hello blogland....ahhhh....it has been so long...i see my mother has done a good job of maintaining my blog! ha ha ha...by maintaining it, I mean making it her own!! ha ha ha...It's all good....someone has to do it!

Anyways it has been so long...I have been watching all my mom's posts and been like...okay I need to get going on this again...get my mojo going and what not...so i have been crafting, just fallen off blogland...so I will have quite a few things to show you in the coming weeks!! yay!!! anyways...I was at work yesterday for the first day all week, and was informed that one of my colleagues and close friends, her daughter was in an accident (on tuesday) in which she was run over by a 1 tonne truck...the nurse in me is thinking there is huge potential for major disability and death in this situation and the mother in me is screaming oh my god!! I just couldn't believe it. The story was told to me and as a mother I just can't imagine...and as a mother who is a nurse in the operating room and sees tons of bad things happen, and knows the medicine side of things, just makes it that much worse. I just was sick to my stomach. Seeing your child intubated is not something that anyone ever wants to see. a parents worst nightmare. You can bet that every nurse I work with, it is their worst nightmare to be working on shift and your son/daughter, or your kids friends come into the operating room as a trauma...I felt so bad for my girlfriend. So...in the end, everything is all good, her daughter is in fact already at home (the incident occurred on tuesday), so I was just so relieved...so...what else can a crafter do than to make a card to send over! so this was my inspiration for the title of my post and my card.
