Thank You Swap

Hello,

Just a quick post today to show a swap card that I made a while ago. This is one of the most in depth swap cards I have made, but I had just gotten my mini preorder and was so stoked to use all my goodies, and I mean all of it! ha ha ha...and I love the finished effect! I couldn't stop adding elements.

Recipe:
Stamps - Curly Cute, Wonderfall.
Ink: Early Espresso, Versamark, Raspberry Ripple, Cajun Craze, More Mustard.
Cardstock: Cajun Craze, Raspberry Ripple, More Mustard, Very Vanilla, First Edition DSP.
Accessories: 3 1/2" Scalopped Early Espresso Tulle, Linen Thread, Naturals Designer Buttons, Early Espresso Embossing Powder, Champagne Shimmer Paint.
Tools: Scallopped Edge Border punch, Glue Dots, SNAIL, Stampin' Dimensionals, Big Shot, Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Stampin' Sponges, Sponge Daubers, Autumn Accents Bigz Die.

I used a technique called Rock and Roll, with a little twist of course! ha ha ha...I used my sponge daubers to get some champagne shimmer paint on the edges of my stamped leaves. The way you do this is, first you ink up your stamp in the lightest colour you are using (more mustard for me), then you roll around the edges of your image in the darker colour (cajun craze). Then I took my sponge dauber and just went around the image with the champagne shimmer paint. You can be as wild or conservative with the shimmer as you want. I think I was sort of in the middle on this one! But I love it. I did the same with the other leave only this time I used raspberry ripple as my first colour, and early espresso as the outside colour.

On the embossed background, i didn't brayer on my folder, I just took my early espresso stampin' Sponge and sponged across the entire card. You get a bit of an aged tree bark effect. Really happy with how it turned out!!

anyways, thanks for checking me out today! I'll be back with my other swap card in a few days!

Christmas in September Stamp Camp #3

Phew!  Back again!!!  Love love love christmas!  crafts, candy and cheer in much abundance!!  ha ha ha...Anway, another one of my christmas stamp camp cards!  I love this one becuase it had a bit of the vintage/roughed up look!  but it was in the classic christmas colours, and a quick and simple card.  not clean and simple (i had a hard time with that), but quick and simple!  ha ha ha....Anyways, here she is!
Recipe:
Stamps: Merry and Type.
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso.
Cardstock: Naturals White, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Gumball Green.
Accessories: 3/8" early espresso quilted satin (retired).
Tools: Big Shot, Lacy Brocade EF, Scallop Square Punch, Postage Stamp Punch, 1" Square Punch, Paper Snips, Stampin' Sponges, Sticky Strip, SNAIL, Stampin' Dimensionals.

Love how Merry & Type lends itself to this stlye of card.  love it.  Some of the ladies added some stamping on the inside.  They used the same ornament stamp and stamped it off on the grid paper first and then stamped it on the inside of their card.  That way it was light enough to still write over for your christmas messages, but it was still a nice touch of stampin on the inside!

Thanks for checking me out again!!

Christmas in September Stamp Camp Card #2

That sure is one heck of a tongue twister!!  ha ha ha...anyways, I am back today with another card that we did at my Christmas in September Stamp Camp.  I can't get over how much fun I had sharing all these cards with some fabulous ladies!!  This card was inspired by a sample that I saw on Stampin' Connection!  There is soo many crafty and creative ladies involved with Stampin' Up!
Before I had the stamp camp, I actually changed the sentiment so that it used the "merry christmas" from Teeny Tiny Wishes instead of this guy from more merry messages.

Recipe: No Peeking, More Merry Messages (Teeny Tiny Wishes).
Ink: Chocolate Chip.
Cardstock: Riding Hood Red, Lucky Limeade, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Lucky Limeade DSP.
Accessories: Lucky Limeade 1/8" Organza ribbon (everyday enchantment ribbon and brad pack-retired from SAB 2012)
Tools: SNAIL, Glue Dots, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Paper Piercer, Stampin' Pierce Mat, Stampin' Pierce Guide,  Corner Rounder Punch, heavy chipboard (for fork bow template), Big Shot, Chevron EF, Decorative Label Punch.

I really liked the simplicity of this card, and the ladies had some beautiful variations of the card using the sentiments from no peeking!  I saw some really cute "No Peeking" and "Jolly Christmas" sentiments on the cards!  Very cute!
Thanks for checking me out!  As always if you are in the Calgary area and would like to join in the fun, I have another Stamp Camp taking place on Oct, 21 at 6pm.  Please check out www.brennaanderson.stampinup.net to RSVP for this event!

Snow Falling??

oh man!!  It is still early in fall, and I'm already starting to think about when the snow is going to fall!!  Some years it starts hard and fast and there is tons of it at Halloween, other years I can remember taking my daughter to the park in november without even a sweater or socks on!!!  Wow!  Hopefully this year is one of the latter years!!  Either way, we always have a beautiful white christmas!!
Well I made this card while prepping for my holiday stamp camp (I made about ten cards, and then chose between them for this stamp camp).  This one did not make the cut for this stamp camp...but I still love it.  I tried to get a good assortment of cards with some different techniques, colour combos and stamp sets, while trying not to have too many supplies that needed to be shared between cards (which is why this one didn't make it).  So...this is it.  This is also the first card that I made with the woodgrain embossing folder.  This embossing folder was one that I wasn't originally planning to buy, but it is quickly falling into my most used Embossing folder.  It is just soo versatile!
Recipe:
Stamps: Jolly Bingo bits, Snow Much Fun.
Ink: Pool Party, Midnight Muse.
Cardstock: Midnight Muse, Chocolate Chip, Pool Party, Whisper White.
Accessories: Midnight Muse 3/8" Stitched Satin.
Tools: SNAIL, Sticky Strip, Stampin' Dimensionals, Scallopped Border Punch, 1" Circle Punch, Stampin' Sponges, Modern label Punch, Big Shot, Woodgrain EF.

I love pool party, it just makes me think of a crisp cool snowy morning.  Thanks for checking me out today!

Scrapbook Club # 4

well hello, not a card today!  I love my scrapbook club!  It forces me to sit down and really do the things that I love to do and stay up to date on my kids books!!  This si special to me, and I know that one day these books will be special to my daughters!!  I love to share them with whoever will look at them!
This is the layout that I did for September.  I just love the new Wonderfall set with the coordinating bigz die (autumn accents)!  you can do so mcuh with the fabulous stamps and die!
Closeup of the subtle "everyday" in the bottom corner.:
Closeup of one of the leaf bundles and burlap:

Recipe:
Stamps: Wonderfall, Sweet Shoppe Alphabet Lower (retired)
Ink: Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo, Early Espresso, More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Raspberry Ripple, Early Espresso.
Cardstock: Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo, Early Espresso, More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Raspberry Ripple, Very Vanilla, Orchard Harvest DSP, First Edition DSP.
Accessories: 7/8" Natural Cotton Ribbon, Brushed Bronze Designer Buttons, Burlap (non SU), Hemp Twine, Mini Silver Brads.
Tools: Big Shot, Tasteful Trim Bigz Die, Typeset Alphabet, Timeless Type Junior Alphabet Sizzlit, Autumn Accents Bigz Die, Crystal Effects, Stampin Dimensionals, SNAIL, Sticky Strip, 2-way Glue Pen, Glue Dots, Stampin Sponges, Houndstooth EF, Spiderweb EF,Square Lattice EF, Chevron EF, Stampin' Piercer, Stampin Pierce Mat.

I love love love this layout.  This is my favorite layout that I have made for my scrap club so far.  It is also the most work!!  ha ha ha..It is intense with all the sponging and tediousness of getting all the letters on!  But, I think the final product is soo worth the effort!  I just love the richness of the colours!  The colours are soo rich, and vivd, they are totally fall!  The orchard harvest product suite is such a beautiful product suite.  And I love how it coordinates with the autumn accents die so beautifully!  You could really go to town with sponging and make your leaves all sort of different colours!!
My other favorite thing about this layout is the title.  I don't even know how I came up with it, but I think it is soo adorable, and speaks volumes to how I feel about my kids!  It definately is more in love everyday!
Another thing I love about this layout is the burlap.  I have never worked with burlap before, but I love it!  It is easy to work with!  It adds a beautiful texture to the layout and an extra dimension of fall!  I'm not sure how most people adhere burlap to cardsock.  But I decided on using crystal effects.  I frayed the edges to what I thought was a good amount (you can do as much or little as you want), and then I put some sticky strip on the back of the burlap strip and placed it on my cardstock where I wanted it.  Since I placed my burlap across two pages, I then separated the two segments, cutting at the edge of the cardstock.  Then, I put crystal effects on top of the burlap around the border of it and pushed it down so that it touched the cardstock also.  That way it would help adhere to cardstock and also prevent further fraying of the burlap!  The sticky strip was just insurance.  It is highly unlikely that it would fall off anyways, becuase it was also mostly covered, but I wanted to be sure!!

Anyways, thanks for checking me out again!!

No More Boys!!

Alright...I promise, this is the last of my baby boy cards that I have to share (that is until any of my friends have another boy!!!)
Anyways...I found a sample that inspired this card on Stampin' Connection by a lady named Mercedes Weber...what beautiful ideas she has!!  I was actually looking for some inspiration using the Scentsational Season stamp set and framelits...which...I have been profoundly inspired, and can't even imagine not owning those items!!  Anyways...this card utilizes the Holiday Collection framelits, and is soo adorable!  I just love it!
Recipe:
Stamps: Scentsational Season, Itty Bitty Banners, Distressed Dots.
Ink: So Saffron, Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze.
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Naturals White, Baja Breeze, Baja Breeze DSP.
Accessories: Whtie Bakers Twine, Subtles Buttons.
Tools: Big Shot, Holiday Collection Framelits, Itty Bitty Banners Framelits, Perfect Polka Dots EF, Glue Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, SNAIL.

I gave the banner a little rolled effect by using my paper piercer (the non piercing end) and just rolling each end in opposite directions.  I then put glue dots on both of the "valley" portions of the banner so that it wouldn't flatten out.
I just love the creative use of the stamp set and framelits!  The shooting stars are adorable, and soo fitting for new babies!  It would look just as adorable in pink also!  So Cute!  Just when you think you've seen all the creative uses for christmas stamps, you find that they are soo applicable to all season cards and crafting!!
Anyways, thanks for checking me out again today!!

Merry Monday (On Friday)

Hello all,

It's been a bit since my last post, but I assure you...I have been crafting!  ha ha ha..I have just been quite busy with family life and my crafting stuff.  I have quite a few things coming up in the next bit.  Last week I had my Stampin Card Club.  This sunday I have my first christmas stamp camp!  I'm super stoked about it!!  I think maybe one or two of the cards have been shown already...but there are definitely a few that I haven't shown yet!  Then on monday night I have the 4th meeting of Scrapbook Club!  Yay!!  September's Layout is absolutely adorable if I do say so myself!  ha ha ha...I absolutely love it!!  So stay tuned for that one!!  Anyways, onto my post for today!  ha ha ha...This is a card that I might use in my second wave of Christmas Stamp camp!  I am sure that I will learn a lot at this stamp camp in terms of what works and what doesn't...but I love love love this card!  I used some unconventional christmas colours to get a bit of a vintage feel.  But Pool Party has got to be one of the best colours for christmas cards (outside of the usual green/red and white).  I just love that colour!  I hope some day it makes it into one of the main colour groups!
Recipe:
Stamps: Polar Party, More Merry Messages.
Cardstock: Naturals White, Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz (retired but is easily substituted with Certainly Celery), More Mustard.
Ink: Jet Black Staz on, Soft Suede, Pool Party; Pear Pizzazz marker, More Mustard marker, Sahara Sand marker, Bashful Blue marker.
Tools: SNAIL, Sticky Strip, Stampin' Dimensionals, Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Stampin' Sponges, Big Shot, Snowflakes EF.
Accessories: Linen Thread, Pool Party Seam binding, Smooch Spritz (the white one, can't remember the name of the top of my head).

My colouring style is sort of more is less.  I find that the more I try to colour in the more I colour outside the lines!  Sometimes I feel as if I need to go back to grade school to practice colouring in the lines again!!  ha ha ha...good thing I have a two year old to help me practice!!
I also used the smooch spritz and sprayed all over my image (the small white layer) once I was done colouring it.  It is hard to tell, but it is a subtle bit of shimmery goodness!!
I used the Merry Monday Sketch for inspiration to get me started.  I love this challenge, and I am going to try and participate in this challenge regularly...that may be ambitious, so semi regularly at least...ha ha ha...oh i know myself too well!!  anyways, thanks for checking me out!  Love to hear your comments!!

Paper Players #112 - More Baby Boy Cards!

Hello all,

I am back again with a cute little baby boy club.  If you have been watching my blog, you may recognize this card.  I made this card as announcements/thank you cards for when my second daughter was born.  I made 35 of them!  It is a beautiful card, easy to replicate and beautiful!  I did have a lot of circles lying around!  ha ha ha...and I also had some help from my mom and sister...so it did go by a lot faster.  I didn't know the sex of Rylea before she was born, so everything waited until after she was born to be made!!  good thing I didn't make them on my premonition, otherwise i would have had 35 boy cards lying around!!  ha ha ha...anyways, the colour challenge at The Paper Players this week is:
So I decided to play along with this baby!!  The colours look soo cute together!
Here is my card:
Recipe:
Stamps: Baby Bundle, A Word For You
Ink: Jet Black Staz on, Baja breeze marker.
Cardstock: Naturals White, Baja Breeze, Basic Gray.
Tools & Accessories: 1/4" White Sweater trim, scallopped dotted ribbon border punch, SNAIL, Sticky Strip, Big Shot, Fancy Fan EF, simply scored.

I love this card, I did change up a few details from my original card...but they are both soo cute!!  Baja breeze is such a good baby boy colour, the blue is not too light, but not too dark!!
The sweater trim in the holiday mini is soo beautiful!  I love how easy it is to work with, so nice and soft!!  This is defiantely a beautiful card to make for announcements and it is easy to replicate!  Thanks for checking me out today!

Scentsational Christmas

Hello!

I'm back with another card using the stamp set Scentsational Season! I just love this set, and the coordinating framelits make it just that much better!!  I am going to submit this in the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge.  I love getting my inspiration from sketches!  I can pick my stamp set/style of card I want to make, then my colours and go with it.  Half the job is done for me!  But this is such a cute sketch!  Lots of embossing on this card.  I love to add texture!  Check it out:
Recipe
Stamps: Scentsational Season.
Ink: Real Red, Gumball Green, Chocolate Chip.
Cardstock: Gumball Green, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Raspberry Ripple, Real Red, Be of Good Cheer DSP.
Tools & Accessories: Big Shot, Paper Snips, Simply Scored, Snow Burst EF (retired), Fancy Fan EF, Holiday Collection Framelits, SNAIL, Sticky Strip, Stampin' Dimensionals.

I didn't heat emboss the images, but I think I will have my ladies (at the stamp-a-stack) heat emboss this with the peppermint sticks embossing powder.  It just adds a major wow factor, and smells soo good.  When you open the envelope you can smell the peppermint! Not only does it give it a great smell, but it also glosses up the mugs a little bit.  I also used my paper snips (one side of them, used like a craft knife) to cut a slit in the mugs to slip the straight end of the candy cane in the mug.  Thanks for checking me otu today!  Be sure to check out some of the other projects at Freshly Made Sketches for some inspiration!!

Watercolour Winter

I Love Christmas!  Everything about it.  It is my favorite holiday of the year for many reasons:
1. It is a time when my family takes time to really enjoy each others company.  In the dead of winter it is a lot of in your face family time, which for most of the year we are so deprived of (I feel anyways).
2. It is the dead of winter, so we can put the fireplace on, belt out some christmas tunes, have some hot chocolate and cuddle up with each other and a good movie, Christmas Vacation comes to mind.
3. Because my husband is a golf pro, and his busy time is in the summer, it is often the time that we take to go on a family vacation, usually some place warm.
4. Christmas is the time that you get to not only spend time with immediate family, but reconnect with aunt's uncle cousins, etc.
5. It is the "craftiest" time of the year for me!!
I could go on and on really...but Christmas inspires me to get on my craftiest thinking cap and make some really neat things for my family.  It all starts with the greeting cards.  So I usually try to do a few throughout the year to keep my mojo going...sooo....I got my holiday mini order in and got crafting away.  As soon as I saw all the beautiful stuff in this mini it was soo hard to not buy!  ha ha ha...So this is one of my favorite stamp sets from the 2012 holiday mini...I've got a few favorites this time around.  But Watercolour winter is soo classy and versatile.  I just love it.  Anyways, onto chattingabout my card!  ha ah ah...I was inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches with this one.  I made a few changes, but the main premise is present!!  Check 'er out!
Recipe:
Stamps: Water Colour Winter, More Merry Messages.
Cardstock: Be of Good Cheer DSP, Always Artichoke, Cherry Cobbler, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla.
Ink: Versamark, Cherry Cobbler, Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke.
Tools: Big Shot, Simply Scored, Paper Snips, Glue Dots, SNAIL, Stampin' Dimensionals, Lacy Brocade EF, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Scalloped Dotted Ribbon Punch, Heat Tool.
Embellishments: Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine, Regals Buttons, Early Espresso 3 1/2" Scalloped Tulle, Gold Embossing Powder.
I love love love the scalloped tulle!  I didn't think I would like it as much as I do!  It is soo awesome!!  It adds the perfect extra touch to the card!
Here is a close up of my homemade tulle embellishment!

I just used about a four inch length of the tulle, scrunched it up and stuffed it in the loop of the cherry cobblers baker's twine behind the button.  That way, when you pull the twine tight you get a beautiful "bow" of tulle.  I just adhered it to the card with a glue dot.  With the tulle coming in crumb cake and cherry cobbler also, I definately see a lot of this being used on my thanksgiving and christmas cards this year!!
This is on of the first christmas cards that I have done this year, and I can definately see this showing up in one of my classes!  If you are in the Calgary area and interested in attending a christmas stamp-a-stack or my monthly drop in nights please contact me for more info or visit my events page on http://brennaanderson.stampinup.net to RSVP!!  Would love ot have you join in the fun!

Thanks for checking me out today!!

Hello all,

This must be some kind of record for me!  ha ha ha....I am back on maternity leave....that's what it is!  ha ha ha...i get a few hours in the day (nap times) to go to my happy place and do some crafting.  This card is one that i made for a girlfriend of mine who recently wrote the NCLEX exam...I am counting on her passing as she is one awesome nurse!  I'm not sure if she even has her results yet...but I can't imagine any other possibility for her other than passing!!  My colour combination was inspired by a fellow demonstrator, I'm sorry I can't remember her name, but it was seen on Stampin' Connection.  She also used this stamp set in her card, that's how I decide to use this set as a "congrats" type card.
Recipe:
Cardstock: Calypso Coral, Pool Party, So Saffron, Whisper White.
Stamps: Happy Hour
Ink: Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Pool Party.
Tools: Big Shot, Houndstooth EF, Bitty Banners Framelits, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Essentials Paper Piercing Pack, Paper Piercing Tool, Scallop border Punch, 2 way glue, sticky strip, stampin' dimensionals, SNAIL.
Embellishments: Calypso Coral 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter.

I have submitted this over at Freshly Made Sketches in their weekly sketch Challenge (#46).  I am going to make a pointed effort to participate in more challenges.  I have been doing some more stamping classes lately and these challenges really help me open my doors and try new things and new stamp sets.  Thsi card may be found some day (or a variation of it) in one of my stamp classes!  If you're in the Calgary area and would liek to join in the fun, email me and let me know!!
Anyway, I am looking forward to more challenges and more blog entries and submissions! Thanks for coming by and looking, please drop me a line and let me know you were here!!
Have a great (long) weekend!!

Debut of Scrapbook Club!

Hi!
So we had our first evening of scrapbook club last week! It was a blast!! I had a great time chatting and scrapping with the ladies! My daughter was the only newborn there this time...but I'm thinking next time there is going to be a few babies more present, 3 or 4!!
This is the layout that we made. I made the girl version, and I actually made two of them becuase I wanted my girls to have matching 1st yr scrapbooks, ha ha ha...I will be giving my mom the originial 1 yr scrapbook I had made for Paisley I think...not sure what I'll do yet!! The layout is the same (whether you have a boy or girl), the only difference is is anything that is in Blushing Bride was in Baha Breeze for the boys.

Recipe:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Blushing Bride, (Baha Breeze), Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, In Colour (Blushing Bride) Patterns Paper Stack, (Baha Breeze Patterns Paper Stack).
Ink: Soft Suede
Stamp Set: Baby Prints
Tools: Paper Doily Sizzlit Die, Ribbon Lace Border Punch, 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Timeless Type Junior Sizzlits Die, Big Shot, Paper Trimmer.
Embellishments: Twitterpated Designer Buttons in Blushing Bride (Baha Breeze), 3/8" Pleated Satin Ribbon in Blushing Bride (Baha Breeze).
Adhesives: SNAIL, Sticky Strip, 2 Way Glue Pen, Glue Dots.
This layout was inspired by a fellow Stampin' Up Demonstrator. Thanks for the inspiration!

Here's To You!

Hello all,

I am back with my second card from my last workshop! As I said before we had tons of fun. I learned a few more things about doing workshops. This card was maybe a bit too involved for a workshop. There were a lot of elements that made it kind of complicated to put together. It is really cute, but maybe more suited towards a technique club night or something like that. Lessons learned!! It was still fun!

Recipe:
Cardstock: Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Lucky Limeade.
Stamp Sets: Send me Soaring, Friendly Phrases.
Ink: Basic Grey, Lucky Limeade, Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party.
Tools: Big Shot, Edgelits heart embossing folder, square lattice embossing folder, lucky limeade bakers twine, scallop edge border punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch.
Adhesives: Sticky Strip, Stampin' Dimensionals, SNAIL.

Thanks for checking me out today!  This card is a case of a fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator Heidi Boos.  Thanks for the inspiration!  The girls that were at the workshop loved the card, and it showcases a lot of the new products in the occasions mini!
